Amber the Butterfly

It was a bright and fresh morning. Amber the Caterpillar crawled to her favorite patch of leaves. They smelled delicious. She enjoyed eating leaves in the morning. There were many leaves and she had plenty to choose from.

Amber was enjoying nice and delicious leaf when suddenly a huge shadow covered her. A strong gust of wind blew her and made her fall to the ground. Above her was the huge and ugly Prude the Pigeon.

"Ha! Look at the wimpy caterpillar", said prude.

Amber recovered and looked at Prude. Prude flapped her huge wings two times. The wind blew Amber rolling away.

"Ha! Look at the wimpy butterfly", said prude again.

Prude flapped her wings once again and flew away laughing.

Amber was sad. Prude always was mean to her. Whenever she was enjoying her leaves or playing the huge shadow and strong wind from Prude would blow her away and sometimes hurt her. Amber was also scared. Prude was mean to all the creatures in the garden.

One day Amber was eating. Suddenly the huge shadow above covered her. Prude was going to attack again. Amber started shaking with fear. She heard the wings flapping and knew that there was going to be a huge gust of wind. She held on tight.

"Ha! Look at the wimpy caterpillar", said Prude.

But suddenly someone said, "You leave her alone!"

It was Brenda the Bee. She was flying nearby and saw Prude bullying Amber.

"Ha! Look at the wimpy bee", said Prude.

But Brenda didn't go away. She flew in front of Prude and looked directly at her. Prude flew away.

"Thanks Brenda", said Amber.

"No problem", said Brenda. "Prude is very mean to all other creatures. She is envious of others because we have nice colors but she is gray and stinky."

"But I am not pretty like you and I can't fly. I am an ugly and wimpy caterpillar."

"You are pretty Amber", said Brenda. "And you will be more pretty soon."

"I wish 1i could fly and be free to get away from Prude and be happy", said Amber.

"You just wait", said Brenda.

So Amber waited.

The days passed. Prude came everyday to bully Amber. Sometimes Brenda was there to defend her other times she was not. Amber felt sad and fearful.

One day Amber felt strange. She started weaving silk and sticking it to her body. She started covering herself with silk. She didn't know why but she did it. Soon she was covered in a hard cocoon.

Prude came flying to bully Amber but only saw a cocoon. She wanted to eat the cocoon. But Brenda was guarding it.

"Go away Prude!", said Brenda.

"You go away! I want to eat that cocoon.", said Prude.

Brenda flew at Prude and scared her away. This happened a couple of times.

One day the cocoon started to open. Slowly Amber started to come out of it. But this time she was different. She had two long antennae and two nice wings with many colors. She was surprised. She started to move her wings slowly.

"Hi Amber", said Brenda.

"What happened to me?"

"You are now a butterfly", said Brenda. "Now you can fly."

"How?", asked Amber.

"I will teach you", said Brenda.

Soon Amber was flying. She felt very happy. Brenda was flying alongside her. Both started to eat from yummy flowers.

Prude came flying to bully Amber but this time Amber the Butterfly flew away from her and escaped. She laughed and Brenda laughed too.

Amber looked at Brenda and said, "Thanks for helping me."

Brenda said, "I told you. You just had to wait. Now you can fly."

Amber and Brenda became friends and helped other caterpillars in the garden.

Moral of the story is to learn to wait. If we wait good things will happen.
